Artist Statement:

My series, "The Art of Memory: My Childhood Nostalgia," delves into the intricate tapestry of recollection, weaving together geometric puzzle pieces with stylized still-frame imagery to evoke the essence of my formative years. Through a meticulous combination of oil-painted photographs, I reveal fragmented memories—a visual narrative brought to life in soft, muted hues that echo the voids left by years of misdiagnosed Bipolar Disorder and the trials of ineffective medications.

Each piece embodies the ethereal quality of remembrance, capturing the elusive and often disjointed nature of my past. Re-imagined still frames and disordered recollections are intentionally spaced, reflecting the inherent embellishments and omissions that color our memories. Photographs are thoughtfully arranged like a forensic timeline, intricately bound by blue threads that trace the gaps in my painted landscapes.

Shattered ceramic vessels, delicately repaired with the same blue threads, serve as poignant symbols of memory and the delicate art of reconstruction, illustrating the beauty found in fragility and the resilience of the human spirit. Through this work, I invite viewers to immerse themselves in the lingering echoes of nostalgia.
