About

Victoria Webber, a painter based in Fort Myers, FL, has spent the past three years at SCAD developing her unique blend of stylized realism and abstraction. Her work explores the complexities of childhood memories, shaped by nearly two decades of high-dosage, incorrectly prescribed pharmaceuticals.

Her series, "The Art of Memory: My Childhood Nostalgia," examines the unreliability of memory through composite panels of her childhood, evocative image transfers, and sepia-toned oil paints. Despite depicting joyful moments, she expresses a poignant detachment from these memories, viewing her childhood photos as artifacts of a past that shaped her.

Victoria earned her BFA in Studio Art from Florida Southern College in 2010, with a focus on Painting and minors in Psychology and Art History. She has studied art and art history in 13 countries during her summers at FSC. Currently, she teaches Painting and Ceramics at Dunbar High School. She has taught Visual Art for 14 years. She is pursuing her MFA in Painting from SCAD and has completed 65 out of 90 credits. Victoria recently interned with renowned artist Marcus Jansen and was a guest curator at FGCU’s Wasmer Gallery. In addition to her artistic pursuits, she is the Head Coach for Dunbar High School’s Girls' and Boys' Weightlifting Teams and enjoys pottery, reading, and exercising in her free time.
